Welcome!
Welcome to Stormlight Blogs!
As a huge writing enthusiast, I thought it would be great to start up a Blog where I can post theories, diaries, updates and more. I have actually wanted to start one for a while, but I was scared about doing something a little different. It wasn't until I was talking to a friend of mine who was unsure about trying something new and I told them "'go for it! What is the worst that could happen? As long as you enjoy it and it's something that makes you happy then why not". That's when I decided to take my own advice.
As this blog will be about this incredible game, I'll tell you a little about my Journey! I first started SSO in April of 2019 where a friend of mine introduced me. I never really liked horses but I had always wanted to find a gaming community so I decided to give it a shot. I was thrown in at the deep end as the friend of mine was a popular YouTuber during this time. It became quite overwhelming and toxic quickly as everyone was fighting to be the best or to be picked to appear in front of an audience. I lost a few friends during this time but this experience led me to the best decision. After the fallout of popularity, I decided it was time for a complete refresh which led me onto the North American region and I started a journey with a club called Misty Queens. At the time, I didn't know any clubs or people in NA but something led me to MQ and I gave it a shot. I was accepted and I found out it was a Dressage club... I knew nothing about dressage, I didn't even know it was a thing. Little did I know, the first day where I was learning what a curl was would lead me onto a year of improvement and laughs. The dressage community was so supportive, even though clubs would compete against one another everyone would hype each other up and when the results came out those at the top would rush to encourage the bottom to keep going. I slowly began branching out and although I was really struggling with my anxiety disorder in real life, I was able to join calls and explore virtually.
During this time, I started to work on my UK account as well. I moved servers to meet new players and met this wonderful girl called April. She changed my entire perspective on youtube and we became the best of friends. I was very passionate about script writing at this point as I had just joined a film course. April had already been creating stunning SSO series for a year or two beforehand but she was kind enough to start to teach me how she did it. We chatted constantly and started to create this world called Burnout. You can watch some of the episodes here! One day she came to me about this idea she had... SSO CON? I was sceptical at first but joined and met a group of 22 creators. They were from all parts of the community - Art, Youtube, Gamemasters, Bloggers - and we got to work to create an event for everyone to enjoy. I am so glad I clicked that join button and we all managed to pull off the event as it opened up so many more friendships. It made me so happy knowing we had made a difference in the community as well as raising money for charity.
That leads us to now! I am a moderator and manager in some discord servers, still going strong with Misty Queens and still creating Events and series with April and a bunch of other talented players. I will be forever grateful to everyone I have met on my journey and the game itself, who knew a horse game would teach you so many life lessons!
